Short answer

MG Flasher supports BMW, MINI and Toyota Supra petrol engines that use the newer MG1 engine ECU: B46/B48, B58, S58, S63 (S63TU4), N63 (TU2 and TU3) and the N74 in the G12. Older cars with the MEVD ECU are not supported. You can check your exact car for free before buying: install the app, connect with an ENET Wi-Fi adapter and run Check for Support on the MyCar page. Power figures are on the engine pages at mgflasher.com/engines. They are crank figures on 100 RON fuel.

How do I check my exact car before I buy anything?

  1. Install the MG Flasher app (free).
  2. Plug an ENET Wi-Fi adapter into the OBD port. Any ENET Wi-Fi adapter works, including MHD's. Bluetooth OBD adapters don't.
  3. Connect to the car and run Check for Support on the MyCar page.
  4. MyCar also shows the security level next to the DME (see "Does my ECU need an unlock?").

Support depends on the ECU and its software, not on the model name or the year. That's why the app check is the final answer. The VIN alone can't tell whether an unlock is needed.

Which cars are not supported?

  • Cars with the older MEVD ECU, for example the F10 M5 (S63TU), early F56 MINI Cooper S / JCW (before LCI) and older F-series B48 and B38 cars. There are no plans to support MEVD.
  • N55, S55 (F80 M3, F87 M2 with N55) and other engines not listed above.
  • Diesel engines: see DFlasher (dflasher.com).
  • B38 with the MG1 ECU can be flashed, but there are no ready-made (OTS) maps for it.
  • N74: only the G12 760i with the MG1 ECU. Older N74 cars with the MSD ECU are not supported.
  • B48 1.6 l (B48B16), sold mainly in Turkey: supported, but the licences and calibrations come from our dealer in Turkey (remaps.com.tr), not the standard B48 licence.

Where do I find the power figures for my car?

All figures are "up to" values at the crank, measured on 100 RON fuel. On 95 RON expect about 20 hp less, and on lower octane 20 to 30 hp less. Stage 1 is for completely stock cars. Stage 2 needs a high-flow downpipe or high-flow catalytic converter. We don't publish acceleration times.

The S58 page: Stage 2 for the X3 M / X4 M and M2/M3/M4 is up to 710 hp / 830 Nm.

The MINI B48 page, B48E tab: these are also the figures for the BMW M135i (F40) and X2 M35i (F39), which use the same drivetrain.

  • N63TU2 (2017 to 2019 M550i, for example): covered by the N63 licence. Use the gain shown for the TU3 on top of your car's stock figures.
  • Hybrids (330e, 530e, X3 30e, 545e, 745e): supported with OTS maps. The B48 and B58 page figures are for the petrol engine; the electric motor adds roughly 100 hp and 200 Nm.
  • Stage 2.5 is only for B58 Gen 1, needs a high-flow downpipe or catalytic converter, and comes with the Stage 2 licence.

Which licence or package do I buy?

  • Licences are sold per engine, not per model. A 330e uses the "B48/B46 F and G series" products, the same as a 320i or 530i.
  • The Flasher License is required to flash anything: our maps, your tuner's map, or just Custom Options like burbles on the stock map.
  • Add the Stage 1 or Stage 2 map, or the OTS Map Bundle for every map for your car. The Ultimate Package is the Flasher License, all OTS maps and the Logger.
  • Licences are locked to your car's VIN and redeemed in the app. Nothing is shipped.

Does my ECU need an unlock?

The app shows it once you connect: MyCar shows the security level (wave) next to the DME.

  • Wave 1 (low security): unlock in the app over OBD with Activate ECU. No tools needed.
  • Wave 2 / 3 (high security): needs a one-time bench unlock. Any MG Flasher dealer or tuning shop with bench tools can do it locally, so you don't need to send the ECU away. Most third-party unlocks (for example Autotuner) are detected.
  • Updating the car's software at BMW (a new I-level) can move the ECU to a high-security version.

My car already has a tune from someone else

Flash the car back to stock in the app first. We already have the stock file for your software on our server. Flashing with MG Flasher replaces whatever is on the ECU.

Real questions and answers

  • "Will you support the F10 M5 (S63TU)?" No. It has the older MEVD ECU and there are no plans for it. S63 support is the S63TU4 in the F90 M5, M8, X5 M and X6 M.
  • "Stage 1 and 2 figures for my M135i F40? The B48 page says 305 hp, my car already makes 306 hp." Use the B48E figures on the MINI B48 page: up to 350 hp / 500 Nm on Stage 1 and 375 hp / 520 Nm on Stage 2. The 305 hp figure is for other B48 cars.
  • "Stage 2 power and 100 to 200 km/h time on an X3 M LCI with RON 100?" Up to 710 hp / 830 Nm at the crank with a high-flow downpipe or catalytic converter. RON 100 is supported. We don't publish acceleration times.
  • "Is the ECU on my 2022 X3 M40i already unlocked?" The car is supported. Connect it to the app and MyCar shows the security level and whether an unlock was detected.
  • "Are the N63 maps only for the TU3? I have a 2017 M550i." The N63TU2 is covered too, with Stage 1 and Stage 2.

When to contact support

If Check for Support says your car isn't supported, or your car isn't in the table above, connect it to the app, press Sync and send us your VIN. We can see your exact ECU software and tell you what's available.
